Oreganol: A Natural Antibiotic

If I had a nickel for every time that one of my friends on Facebook said they were taking their kid in to the doctor for an ear infection, a sore throat, a cough, a sniffle, really ANY time their kid shows ANY sign of sickness-it’s off to the doctor and more often than not they’re prescribed an antibiotic which may or may not work (because often times, what the child is fighting is viral, which an antibiotic doesn’t work for). I’D BE A MILLIONAIRE.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with going to the doctor for emergencies. Our family has chosen not to, but that doesn’t mean you can’t. We believe God made our bodies to HEAL and HE has healed us on the cross. “By HIS stripes you ARE healed.” We fully believe healing was provided just like salvation. All you have to do is believe! We’ve been healed from nose polyps to tooth infections to little sniffles. It’s not IF God will heal you, because His will is that NONE should perish, but it’s just you accepting that healing just like you accept Him as your Savior. BUT, we must cooperate with our body.  We must fuel it the right way like we talk about here, and take care of it-THEN we can walk in wholeness, or sozo, and health. You can read more about what Jesus did on the cross here.

Back to this amazing little oil. When you truly have a virus, bacterial infection, fungal infection, or even sepsis, this oil is what you need. Which just proves AGAIN how amazing our God is and that He has provided all we need to function in wholeness with the plants, food, and the nature He gives us!

DISCLAIMER: I am not a medical doctor and this isn’t meant to diagnose, treat, or cure any illness. I am, however, in school for my naturopathic doctorate and I speak also from years of experience. I only SHARE to CARE not SHARE to persuade. 🙂

ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: This oil is DIFFERENT than Oregano Oil! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT use oregano oil internally. Oreganol, or oil of oregano, which is what I am talking about from here on out, has already been properly diluted and extracted in a way that makes it safe for internal consumption. Again though, use at your discretion.

Some super beneficial information about Oreganol taken from their website:
Oregano oil comes from the leaves of oregano plants, Origanum vulgare, which belong to the mint family. Oregano grows wild in Mediterranean regions, where it has long been valued for its healing properties. The word oregano means “joy of the mountains,” and the ancient Greeks used this herb to treat headaches, indigestion, seizures and wounds. Today, oregano oil is valued for its antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Antioxidants According to “The Cure is in the Cupboard,” a book written by Cass Ingram, M.D., oil of oregano is a powerful antioxidant, meaning it might destroy free radicals that cause cancer, strokes and heart disease. Oregano oil works as an antioxidant because of several potent compounds, including rosmarinic acid, hydroxycinnamic acid, p-hydroxyhydrocaffeic acid and labiatic acid. The American Cancer Society adds that the oregano herb contains about 30 times more antioxidant capacity than oranges and 42 times the antioxidant power of apples.

Antibacterial Properties According to Medical News Today, scientists at the University of West England in Bristol, England, discovered that oregano oil has stronger antibacterial properties than many prescription antibiotics. The report states that oil of oregano might even kill the powerful bacteria that causes the “superbug” called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA. Drugs.com adds that oregano oil effectively kills other bacteria, including E.coli, Salmonella, Proteus and the Helicobacter pylori bacterium thought to cause gastritis and peptic ulcers. Dr. Ingram claims that oregano oil offers such potent antibacterial properties because it contains thymol and carvacrol, two phenols that also act as powerful antiseptics.

Anti-Fungal Abilities The thymol and carvacrol found in oregano oil also appear to have antifungal properties. According to Drugs.com, even small concentrations of oregano oil can inhibit the growth of the Aspergillus and the Penicillium fungi. Dr. Ingram adds that the two phenols also effectively kill the Candida albicans fungus, which causes various kinds of yeast infections. While Candida albicans naturally occurs in the human body, its growth can become excessive due to various factors, including antibiotic medications, a high sugar intake, chemotherapy and stress. To treat topical yeast infections, apply oregano oil directly to the infected site several times a day. To treat internal yeast infections, Dr. Cass Ingram recommends placing several drops of oregano oil underneath your tongue two or three times a day. Check with your medical practitioner before treating vaginal yeast infections with oregano oil.

Other Healing Properties Dr. Cass Ingram reports that the carvacrol and thymol phenols can help kill various intestinal parasites, including tapeworm, pinworm, hookworm and roundworm. Drugs.com notes oregano oil’s antispasmodic effects, stating that carvacrol and thymol seem to stabilize muscle membranes. Oregano oil also seems to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. The Wolfe Clinic suggests oil of oregano can help reduce the inflammation and pain caused by fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Dr. Ingram agrees, adding that oil of oregano can also help those with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). You can help reduce inflammation by directly rubbing oil of oregano on your affected joints or muscles.

Fungal Infections Organicfacts.net recommends using wild oregano oil internally or externally to prevent and treat both skin and blood-borne fungal infections. Carvacrol is a powerful anti-microbial in wild oregano oil that fights bacteria such as candida, salmonella, listeria and staphylococcus. For topical infections, apply a few drops of oil directly to the skin to treat fungus on the nails, head or other body part once or twice daily. Take wild oregano oil internally to fight yeast infections. Most essential oils need to be diluted before using on skin. Use as directed.
Mouth Conditions Those who suffer from toothaches or gum disorders can benefit from using wild oregano oil. Wild oregano oil contains thymol, the active ingredient in some mouthwashes, which has antiseptic qualities that can reduce the pain of a toothache and preventing tissue damage, according to Natural News. Gently massage oil into gums around the infected tooth or use a drop of diluted oregano oil when brushing teeth instead of toothpaste.

Digestive Issues Wild oregano oil treats digestive conditions such as parasites, ulcers, food poisoning and bacterial infections. Taking capsules or diluted wild oregano oil by mouth can ease even mild indigestion. Because wild oregano oil is an antioxidant, it stimulates bile and aids in the process of digestion, according to Healingnaturallybybee.com. When stomach problems occur, take three to seven drops of oil mixed with 1 to 2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil during or after meals. Some bouts of food poisoning may require a stronger dose.

Allergies According to the Oregano Oil Health Benefits website, wild oregano oil contains rosmarinic acid and carvacrol, which have anti-inflammatory properties that may provide treatment for seasonal allergies and relieve symptoms such as itching, sneezing and congestion. Wild oregano oil can be ingested when diluted with juice or water or dabbed under the nose for relief. While wild oregano oil may relieve allergies in some people, there is a possibility of allergic reaction. Consult a physician before using wild oregano oil while on other allergy medications.
The exceptional amount of health benefits associated with the use of oil of oregano have been repeatedly documented by scientific research, yet very few individuals even know what oregano oil truly is. Respected among many health conscious consumers and the natural health community alike, many swear by the many oregano oil benefits as a cure for a host of ailments and conditions. From improving digestion to aiding in the fight against infections, oil of oregano has a number of uses that are backed by both experience and science. Oregano Oil Benefits | Powerful Natural Antibiotic, Digestive Aid Showcasing one of the many oregano oil benefits, one study from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) actually found that oil of oregano offered notable antimicrobial effects against both Salmonella and E. coli. This natural defense against foreign bacteria was also solidified in a number of other studies, including one performed by the Department of Food Science at the University of Tennessee. While performing their research, the Tennessee research team reached very similar conclusions surrounding the exciting antibacterial effects of oil of oregano. When testing out the substance of pathogenic germs, the scientists discovered a shocking outcome: oil of oregano could be a suitable alternative to harsh pharmaceuticals that are continually spawning drug-resistant ‘super’ viruses. According to scientists from the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at Georgetown University Medical Center, oil of oregano could actually be a ‘new’ and ‘safe’ antimicrobial agent that could serve to replace big pharma’s drugs. Based on their research and the findings of the other scientists, the team agreed that oil of oregano could be the natural and logical solution.

Beyond being a natural antibiotic, oil of oregano benefits also extend to the improving of biological functions — particularly in the liver and colon. One study, published in the prominent journal Experimental and Toxicologic Pathology, actually shows how oil of oregano can benefit a number of systems within the human body. Finding that the oil could help negate the effects of induced colitis in rats, the information also suggests that oil of oregano could therefore be highly beneficial to maintaining and improving the health of the colon and the liver. This is of considerable importance, of course, due to the fact that the colon and the liver must both be functioning normally in order to obtain optimum health.

Adults take 2 drops under the tongue, 2x daily for 7-10 days.
Kids 2 and older take half of that amount.

Why choose Oreganol instead of a prescribed antibiotic? Antibiotics not only kill any “bad bacteria” that have invaded your body, they also kill the good. When you take an antibiotic you are DEpopulating your entire gut colony.  And MOST of us, don’t REpopulate it with probitoics, fermented foods, and a proper diet. The medical community now knows that improper gut balance not only destroys the digestive system, it is believed to be the ROOT cause of all mental disorders including anxiety, depression, OCD, bi-polar, and even Alzheimers, as well as, immune disorders, auto-immune issues, systemic inflammation, and even cancer.  So taking any form of antibiotic, unless absolutely medically necessary, is detrimental to your health.

Just like with any pharmaceutical or medical intervention, once you start messing with your immunity and very DNA of your body, you go down a rabbit trail that makes it hard to get out of. Sticking to natural healing using food, supplements, and nature to HELP your body heal instead of a drug doing the healing for you and then suffering from the consequences later is going to be your best path to wholeness! I fully believe that God wants you well and that He has equipped YOU to live in abundant health!
