Lightening Hemp Milk

 

You may be thinking, “Really? Lightening Hemp Milk? What does that even mean? It has superpowers or something?”

Well yes and no! The reason I named this LIGHTENING hemp milk is because it literally takes 30 seconds to make. It is so fast and so easy and so nutritious it might as well be a superhero. Bad pun in all directions but ya’ll, I’m just saying. MMMhhhMMM.

Once you make this once, you’ll be addicted. It’s creamy, smooth, slightly sweet, and super hearty. I find it more comparable to cows milk than almond or coconut, but that’s just me. Not to mention the insane amount of nutritional benefits hemp milk has; be sure and read all the way to the bottom of this post to find out just what it does.

Lightening Hemp Milk
(Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegan)

Ingredients
1/2 cup of hemp seeds
4 cups of filtered water
4 tsp of coconut sugar/raw honey/pure maple syrup
1 tsp of vanilla
Instructions
Add all ingredients to the blender and blend it on high until smooth, around 30 seconds. You’ll want to chill this in the fridge before drinking, because it tastes better cold.
That’s it! Seriously! No straining or any complicated technique. Makes around 4 cups.

Hemp seeds: Hemp seeds offer a high quality protein source with an amino acid profile that exceeds many animal sources.  They provide a great source of omega-3’s with the added benefit of reducing inflammation in the body, stabilizing blood pressure, smoother and silkier hair and skin, boosts immune and brain function, and reduces problems associated with blood clotting. Pretty impressive little seed for being the size of an ant!

Coconut sugar: Coconut sugar is a great “refined sugar” alternative.  It doesn’t have a coconut flavor, although it isn’t as sweet as regular sugar so adjust your recipes accordingly.  But what it does offer is a super high mineral index and also inulin, which is a starchy prebiotic fiber making blood sugars stable when consuming moderately instead of spiking it like white sugar does.
