We recommend every single person on this planet to start their day with an Every Day Smoothie, after their warm mug of lemon water. Think of it like taking your multi-vitamin first thing in the morning. Instead of taking one, drink this. Cheaper and way more nutritious for your body. We first learned about this smoothie from one of our favorite bloggers, new mama, and fellow health nerds Kimberly Snyder and since we’ve adopted drinking one every morning, along with other lifestyle changes you can fine here, we have seen drastic improvements with our overall health but more specifically our energy, focus, clarity, and beauty.
This Everyday Green Smoothie is loaded with greens, apples, pears, bananas, celery, and lemon, each specific ingredient providing different nutrients for your cells, which make up your very BEING and who you are. I’ve listed some of the nutritional benefits at the end of this post, but guys, it doesn’t even skim the surface.
Everyday Green Smoothie
(Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Vegan)
(Feeds a family of 5)
3 cups of spinach or green of choice (some other great alternatives is Swiss chard, kale, collard greens, or whatever is in season where you live)
1/2 bunch of romaine
2 stalks of celery
2-3 cups of filtered water
1 green apple
1 pear (or any other fruit you love or thats in seas like red apples, strawberries, blueberries, etc)
1 spotty banana
1/4 lemon including rind
With your high powered blender add the first four ingredients and blend on low, gradually increasing the speed until it’s reached high. Blend for about 30-60 seconds. Then add your apple and pear (or other fruit) and blend the same way as you did with the greens. Lastly, add in your banana and lemon blending slowly until it’s all incorporated. Turn to high and blend for another 30 seconds until smooth and creamy. That’s it! Feel free to mix and match with the greens and fruits but always keeping a ratio of 70% greens and 30% fruits. You can also include fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for a fresh taste and natural detoxifier.
Spinach: Spinach is rich in water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, minerals, and a wide variety of phytonutrients. It’s high in folate and rich in chlorophyll which gives the spinach it’s beautiful green color. It’s also abundant in magnesium and iron making it a great source of plant protein. It can have anti-inflammatory properties for the whole body! A true superfood!
Celery: Celery doesn’t get a lot of fame but it should! It has amazing anti-inflammatory properties, specifically related to the digestive tract. In addition to well-known antioxidants like vitamin C and flavonoids, scientists have now identified at least a dozen other types of antioxidant nutrients in celery. It has been proven to reduce oxidative stress which we know can lead to heart disease and cancer. Eat more celery!
Banana: Bananas are known for their high potassium content but even more than potassium they hold a high amount of vitamin B6, which is crucial for your nervous system and mental health. Because of the high potassium content bananas can help maintain blood pressure and proper heart function. Even though bananas tastes sweet, their load of fiber compared to their sugar content helps your body not get overwhelmed by the sugar hitting your blood thus reducing the effects of any sugar crashes. Huh, imagine that?! Whoever said fruit was the enemy, shouldn’t pretend to be God. Pretty sure He knew what He was up too when He created the most perfect food for our bodies to digest!
