It’s that time of the year when a lot of you approach me with wanting advice on how to get rid of your spring cold and boost your immunity, because the midwest wonky weather pressure is giving you a run for your money. Prevention is KEY. Along with eating the dose wholeness way, incorporating immune boosting nutrition into your daily diet is super beneficial in preventing those unwanted colds and viruses that are going around.
I’m proud to say, our little family of four hasn’t had a cold or tummy bug in almost 5 years. We do get little sniffles or a small cough but usually our immune system kicks in to overdrive and by the next day, we are in perfect health again. THIS is how your bodies were created to thrive, in wholeness.
This smoothie is easy and you can keep most of the ingredients in your freezer so when you hear of a co-worker that’s sick or half of your child’s classroom is out with the flu, you can serve this to your family knowing you are helping their immune system combat any bacteria or virus that is trying to invade.
Cold Buster Vitamin C Smoothie
(Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Vegan)
1/2 CUP FROZEN CAULIFLOWER
1/2 CUP FROZEN PEACHES
1/4 CUP PINEAPPLE
1/4 CUP MANGO
1 GOLDEN BEET PEELED AND CUT UP
1/4 CUP COCONUT CREAM
1/4 CUP COCONUT MILK
2 CUPS WATER
Add all of your ingredients to a high powered blender, like the Vitamix, until smooth and creamy. Serve into 6 small mason jars or 4 large ones. Cheers to health and wholeness!
Cauliflower: Cauliflower is a cruciferous vegetable and you really want to incorporate at least 1-2 cups of cruciferous vegetables into your diet daily. Cauliflower has an amazing phytonutrient called glucosinolate which provides key nutrients to EVERY cell of your body. I just LOVE the power of God’s whole foods!
Mango: Mangos are are a great source of vitamin C, carotene, copper and B vitamins. We need all the b-vitamins for nervous function and immune support.
